Kames Castle

 photo, Kames Castle

Kames Castle is one of the oldest houses in continuous habitation in Scotland. At the core of the castle is a 14th century tower house, with the addition of a later house. The castle stands in lovely grounds just north of Port Bannatyne on the Isle of Bute. Though it is not generally open to the public, you can get a very nice view of the castle from the road to Ettrick Bay.
