Grosmont Castle photo, Grosmont Castle

Grosmont was one of three castles built by the Normans to guard the main route from Hereford into south Wales (the others are Skenfrith and White Castle). The castle was rebuilt in stone in the 13th century and the curtain wall of red sandstone still stands to a very great height.
