Dolwyddelan Castle photo, Dolwyddelan Castle

Dolwyddelan is an early 13th century native Welsh castle built by Llewelyn the Great to guard one of the the major routes north into Snowdonia. Llewelyn's two storey tower was enlarged by Edward I after the English king seized Dolwyddelan in the late 13th century. Today the castle is a striking ruin, with a late 15th century tower.
