Cornwall Tourist PassPosted: 2009-07-03
I just became aware of a rather useful discount pass covering Cornwall, one of the most popular destinations in the UK for both Brits and tourists alike. Its the aptly named Cornwall Tourist Pass, and it could save you quite a bit of money on a holiday to Cornwall.
The Cornwall Tourist Pass offers discounts on entry to popular tourist attractions, including Launceston Castle, Newquay Zoo, Land's End, Poldark Mine, and the Gweek Seal Sanctuary. That's just a start; there are discounts on eating out, shopping, activities, and accommodation. A standard discount seems to be 10% off normal prices, though this is sometimes higher depending on the participating merchant.
There are no vouchers to print and bring along with you; you just have to show up and present your discount pass. Passes can be purchased online or at any participating merchant.
Despite its name, the Cornwall Tourist Pass is available for both tourists and residents alike. The tourist version comes in a 7 day or 14 day format, while the resident's pass offers discounts for an entire 5 years!
What really sets this pass apart from normal discount passes is that it covers up to 5 family members on one pass. In other words, you don't need to buy individual passes for every member of your family. That in itself makes the purchase price of £7 (7 day version) or £10 (14 day version) quite a deal. There is also a full 12-month version of the pass for only £20, which seems quite a deal! The five-year resident pass costs only £20, or £10 if you are on Housing Benefit.
In addition to the cost savings, you get the good feeling of knowing that 25p from every pass purchased goes to a local Cornish charity.
If you are planning to visit Cornwall, this could be just the ticket to save some money on your holiday. To the best of my knowledge, its the only tourist pass specifically covering Cornwall.
