The chapel of St Pancras, at the far eastern end of the abbey grounds. This chapel was partly built of Roman brick, and may date from the 7th century. Another school of thought claims that this may be the church established by Queen Bertha in the late 6th century, though that honour is generally accorded to St Martin's church, outside the abbey walls.
