Chavenage House photo, Civil War window

The term 'Civil War window' is a bit misleading. It was through this window that a maidservant at Chavenage signalled to her lover at the nearby Royalist encampment that the coast was clear for him to visit. The Parliamentarian leader of the Chavenage forces discovered the affair and laid a trap. He got the girl to make a signal, lured the Royalist leader to Chavenage, and successfully attacked the Royalist position in his absence.
