No, this is not the Mediterranean. Nor is it a Caribbean resort. It is Kiloran Bay, Isle of Colonsay, one of the finest beaches I have ever seen. The sand is crystalline white, the water achingly blue. It helps when the tide cooperates, for at low tide there's a lot more beach, but even at high tide it is an extraordinary place.
