A 19th century cottage houses a collection of rural life, including a manse parlour, dairy, laundry and schoolroom. The museum showcases traditional cottage industries, a kitchen, and exhibits written and photographic records for Angus. Across the road is an agricultural area with implements and farm life displays. The museum is a very short walk from the front gates of Glamis Castle. Even closer, and on the same lane as the museum is a Pictish cros slab in the manse garden.
This free museum is housed in a row of historic Regency houses on Arbroath's seafront. The houses were built by famed lighthouse architect Robert Stephenson as a shore base for lighthouse keepers and their families who looked afer Bell Rock lighthouse.

Number 42 Arnol is a traditional thatched crofting house of a style once ubiquitous throughout Lewis. The cottage, built around 1880, has been restored, along with its internal byre, barn, and stackyard, to present a glimpse into the bygone world of traditional Hebridean life.
