Amazing!
Easily the nicest place we have ever stayed. Feasants in the garden, your own beck, 2 amazing baths, the biggest bed we?ve ever seen and everything you could ever need on a week away. Beautiful surroundings, nobody to bother you and easy parking. Feels like you're at home, not like a rental at all- if we could buy this cottage we would! Thanks for a wonderful stay.

Perfection!
We booked this cottage for our 25th wedding anniversary break. Our booking was through Lake Cottage Holidays which I subsequently found was part of Sykes Holidays. I wasn?t impressed with the communication throughout the booking process but I will review the management company elsewhere as I don't feel the cottage itself should be judged on the company who manages the bookings. The directions to the cottage were easy to follow as were the instructions for locating the key. As we walked in, the beauty of the setting of this cottage and the peace and tranquility were pretty stunning. Another reviewer had mentioned about there not really being views as such so I had been a little concerned about the location, however don't let this comment put you off. The location is beautiful. The back of the house overlooks the beck and soon after arriving we were visited by the friendly pheasants who remained a permanent presence through the week, and who were really very tame. It was a delight to sit in the kitchen or lounge and watch the various birds come along for their food. A lovely little welcome pack was a thoughtful gesture. We arrived over a very cold weekend with wintry snowy weather and the house, although underfloor heating had been left on for us, was pretty cold. After a while we were able to locate the heating and get the place warmed, along with setting a log fire. This is the first cottage holiday we?ve had where it's been a completely ?hands off? welcome. I think it would have been nice to have had a more personal welcome with a little intro to what was where and how to work things-that's just me and again I feel is more about the management company than the cottage. The cottage is very spacious, is decorated and furnished in a delightful way and not only has a lot of thought been put into providing everything you need, you also feel that no expense has been spared in making this a luxury, home-from-home place. My first feeling when we arrived was that I didn?t want to leave the place all week as it was so lovely. The beds were super comfy and with a super king size in the master bedroom, and the option of the second bedroom to kick hubby out into if his snoring got too loud, this proved to be a perfect set up for us! Dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer all made life nice and easy while we were at the cottage. (Although there was a container for washing powder marked for our use when we arrived this was empty so I had to wait a few days before we went out into Keswick before I could wash bits and pieces we needed.) I would recommend having shopping delivered if possible or bring your food shopping with you on the way as supermarkets are limited locally. There is a small selection of games and puzzles, and a bigger selection of various books for the use of guests. This cottage is a must, there's nothing not to like! Our only negative....finding two pieces missing from the jigsaw puzzle!

Faultless
I booked stair because it looked so Good in the pictures, and wasnt disappointed when we got inside, this is with out doubt the best place we have stayed in, you can immediately feel that the owners have done what they can to make you feel welcome, it is amply stocked with everything that you will need to make your stay pleasurable. The adventure centre wasn't an issue, in fact it was quite good fun seeing the group's do there stuff in the trees and the zip wires etc.(take time to explore the garden through the gate on the right) The river at the bottom of the garden was brilliant, first day a mere trickle, second day after 12hrs of rain was a raging torrent, It's unusual to find a property where the owners trust the guests and this is hopefully reciprocated by the guests looking after the property more, the little messages around leaving instructions on the heating and showers are very friendly and not like the usual do this do that stuff. This is clearly a place where the owners stay, so from our point of view it needs to be respected for that. Without repeating what previous reviews have said, you won't be disappointed if you book stair cottage. The super kingsize bed was super comfy, very warm every where,a real home from home. A fantastic kitchen fully equipped with everything. Most of our walks were from stair cottage and ended at stair, your right in the fells but with lots of low level walks.newlands valley is so green and lush (mid May) a brilliant part of the lakes, much better than the langdales. This is a top draw guest cottage with a fantastic family bathroom. We feel very lucky to have found this place and would definitely come back. There are no negatives we have stayed in many many places for the same rate and they have ranged from very poor to ordinary to good. Stair is at the top of the pile, plus there are lots of extras that just make this a memorable visit. The info folder is clean and tidy unlike some places that just can't be bothered, it's packed with useful info. Book this place, you won't be disappointed. We already have for next year.

Perfect in every way
Excellent location with hiking out the door. Luxurious and spacious with very well appointed eat-in kitchen- just like being at home. Even had a Nespresso machine- lots of herbs, spices, olive oil etc. Beautiful view from dining area to Newland Beck. LR with wood stove and gorgeous couches was great in cool evenings. Bedroom was huge with soaker tub for after hike relaxing. We were 2 couples and it was perfect as we ate in most nights and the well equipped kitchen made it easy. Keswick is only 10 minutes away. Best rental we have had in several years. Will be going back for sure.

Total perfection, stunning cottage in equally stunning location, ideal for walking and relaxation.
We have stoped in many holiday cottages but to date this is the best by far.Everthing that was said about this delightful cottage was true. It was luxuriously appointed with attention to detail throughtout with many extras once you got there. After a hard day walking on the fells it was heaven to relax in a deep bubble bath whilst looking out across the garden. The kitchen was very well equipped with everything you could possibly need and was light bright and modern and a great place to chill out with a glass of wine watching the squirrel stealing the food from the biord feeeder! The location was perfect for walking and meant we never had to take the car. We would recommend this property to anybody looking for a touch of luxury in the Lakes.
