The National Trust owns a swathe of North Norfolk coastline centred on Brancaster village and Brancaster Staithe. Contained within the estate are a 3rd-century Roman army camp and an 18th-century flint and brick cottage used by the Trust as an outdoor education centre. Brancaster Estate is a haven for wildlife and birds, drawn by the picturesque salt-marsh habitat.
