The Ham & Cheese is a Country Inn Offering Comfortable Bed & Breakfast In a Quiet Village Just Outside Of Malton. We have 8 recently refurbished B&B rooms - 4 of which are in our new annex Whitethorns 50 meters away from the Pub its self and 4 within the first floor of the property. we also have a newly refurbished holiday cottage with luxurious hot tub available for longer self catering stays.
The Ham and Cheese dates back to 1907 and before this time was one of the first farm shops in the country. Local farmers used to bring their produce to sell here and it is believed that the inn takes its unique name from this time. We are situated in the quiet village of Scagglethorpe 2miles from the market town of Malton.
We are just off the A64 20 miles either way to either York or Scarborough. The Inn is proud of its reputation for good quality home cooked food real ales and log fire. Accommodation is above a quiet traditional public house and restaurant offering superb bar meals & Specials real ales from the bar and a lovely log fire.
The Ham & Cheese offers 8 ensuite rooms on a Bed & Breakfast basis and has rooms available for single double twin or family occupancy 4 of which are above the Pub & 4 within our newly refurbished annex Whitethorns. The attractive market town of Malton has been the historic centre of Ryedale since Roman times. Situated on the river Derwent it is an ideal location for discovering the beauty of the Yorkshire countryside.
The city of York the Coast the Wolds and the North Yorkshire Moors are all within easy reach of Malton. All the fun of the fair can be found at Flamingo Land theme park and zoo with exciting rides to suit everyone ranging from the 'Terroriser' and the 'Bullet' to the traditional Carousel. There are over one thousand animals to see in the zoo a real family pleaser.
The museum located in the Old Town Hall contains an impressive display of Roman artefacts found in and around Malton's Derventio Fort. See displays showing how Roman centurions and civillians lived or visit the actual site of Derventio in Orchard Fields. Malton has a selection of shops as well as a host of hotels cafes restaurants and pubs all keen to extend the typical Yorkshire welcome.
