Norham Castle photo, Norham Castle

Norham Castle was built about 1121 by the Bishop of Durham, in a scenic spot beside the River Tweed, just inside the Northumberland border with Scotland. It has seen royal visits and withstood sieges, but was finally subdued by James V of Scotland in 1513.
