Chirk is one of the best preserved castles along the Welsh border. It was built by Roger Mortimer in 1295, and remodeled by Sir Thomas Myddelton in the late 16th century. The castle is set in beautiful parkland landscaped in the 18th century. The interior features sumptuous state rooms in neo-Classical style.
