Dinefwr Castle photo, Dinefwr Castle

The capital of the old Welsh kingdom of Deheubarth, Dinefwr stands on a high hill overlooking the parkland of Newton House. The earliest castle here was erected by Rhodri Mawr in the 9th century, but the substantial fortress that remains dates to the early 13th century.
