Dolbadarn Castle stands on a hill looking south over Llyn Padarn and Llanberis. The castle may have been built by Llewelyn the Great, and was probably the place where Owain ap Gruffudd was imprisoned for 20 years by Llewelyn ap Gruffudd after his unsuccessful revolt against his elder brother.
