West Lindsey Churches Festival

West Lindsey Churches Festival

It may seem a long way off now (especially with the heavy snow that is falling as I write this!), but it will be Spring in a few months, and there's no better time to start planning your outings than now - especially if you can curl up with a hot cup of cocoa while you dream of warmer weather. One upcoming event caught my eye this week; the West Lindsey Churches Festival.

In case you are unaware, West Lindsey is a regional district in northwestern Lincolnshire. Within the region are some superb medieval churches; indeed, I'd say it is one of the very best areas for exploring historic churches in the entire UK. The Festival runs over 2 weekends, from 8th-9th May to 15th-16th May. Among the churches in the area that I have enjoyed visiting, several stand out, among them Stow Minster, a lovely Saxon building, and the little rural church at Coates by Stow.

If you fancy your skill with a camera, the Festival is also sponsoring a Photography Competition, for photos taken during the festival at participating churches. Details of the competition can be found on the festival website. Some of the churches offer light lunches, and others are giving organ recitals.

UPDATE:
This event has long passed and the website is no longer online.
