Tintagel Castle voted Most Romantic location

Valentine's Day must be in the air - I see where English Heritage magazine members have voted Tintagel Castle, Cornwall, as the Most Romantic attraction administered by EH. Also making the Top 3 are the wonderfully atmospheric ruined abbey of Whitby, and Bolsover Castle, on the eastern edge of the Peak District.

English Heritage were also big winners in a poll by BBC Countryfile magazine. In the February issue of the magazine Whitby Abbey was voted the Most Romantic Ruin, followed by another English Heritage property, Fountains Abbey, also in Yorkshire.

Makes me wonder what I would consider the most romantic historic place in Britain. Hmm ... I might vote for Eilean Donan Castle, in Scotland, or perhaps Callanish stone circle on Lewis. How about you?
