Sunhoney Stone Circle is composed of 11 standing stones and one recumbent stone. The circle is just under 27 metres in diameter. Within the circle is the remains of a cairn about 0.3 metres high and 7 metres diameter.
Interestingly, excavations have shown that there was a pyre (presumably a funeral pyre) in the centre of the circle, and eight distinct deposits of burnt bones.
The recumbent stone is worth a close look. It is huge, at over 5.3 metres long. The upper surface, which would have faced outward from the circle when the stone was upright, is covered with seven cup marks.
There is another stone circle just up the B9119 at Balblair, and another at Cullerlie, about four miles away.
