The Story Behind the Image - Bibury Cottages

Flowers grow outside a pretty 17th-century cottage on Arlington Row, Bibury, Gloucestershire. Arlington Row was established as a terrace of weavers' cottages and is now owned by the National Trust.

Bibury is known as one of the prettiest villages in the Cotswolds, and for good reason. The peaceful River Coln runs through the village, and a bridge over the Coln leads to the Swan Inn, one of the most photographed buildings in the Cotswolds.

I've photographed Bibury numerous times. It is one of those places you want to come back to again and again.

On this occasion, I got up at 4:30 in the morning (you don't have to be crazy to be a photographer but it does help) and drove 30 minutes to get to Bibury just as the sun was rising.
