St Cattwg's Church, Port Eynon, is a 12th-century church (enlarged in the 1860's) with a Norman doorway, stained-glass windows and interesting memorials.
St Cattwg was a native Welsh saint, born about 497 AD. The church may have been founded as early as the 6th century, possibly by St Cattwg's student, St Cenydd. The current building is completely Victorian, rebuilt at the expense of Christopher Rice Mansel Talbot of Penrice.
One oddity of the church is that it has neither an east nor a west window. I can't think of another British church that can say the same!
In the churchyard is a memorial to three men who lost their lives in a lifeboat disaster of 1916.
