perfect holiday accommodation
So needed a break, and were delighted to find this lovely farmhouse. Owner was helpful and friendly, and gave us so much useful local information which added to the enjoyment of our holiday.
Large rooms, fantastic setting, beautiful views, comfortable and well equipped house, wonderful hot tub. we didnt want to leave!
Nice House but dont get on the wrong side of the owner
Where do I start? From the beginning, it started with an easy drive to Low Moor Farm, however, when we approached the driveway, it was clear this was not going to be so good. I understand it's a farm track, however, with there being 3 properties at the end of it, and parking for at least 6-8 cars, the holes could have been easily filled, and it really didn?t do my new car any good.
First impression of the farm house from the outside was beautiful and that we couldn?t wait to spend a week here over New Year. We all arrived around 3:30pm which was the time we were advised to arrive on the welcome email (despite the Sykes email saying from 3pm) but we did have to wait for around half an hour, as the cleaners were still finishing in all 3 properties - not a great start. I would like to add that I saw the owner mid-week and spoke with her about the cleaners and the timing, and all she said to me was ?yes, I would expect them to have finished at 3:30 but later changed her story to advised she was sorry for the late arrival and that it was due to the Christmas guests leaving late. Now wondering whether this was a little white lie? Also, the cleaners gave us £10 and asked us to buy batteries as it looked like there were some missing from some remotes etc - the previous guests must have used them for all their Christmas toys ? REALLY, did I want to spend my holiday looking for them and replacing them? We did go to replace the batteries in the WII controls as had bought games with us to play, however found that the current batteries had corroded and leaked inside the control so didn?t want to clean and replace those. If advertised, it really should be good for use.
We were advised that keys for the house were in a key safe outside each door and the code was 2019 which we believe to be the same for all the houses on the complex ? we found that a little concerning and fairly poor from a security point of view. It meant that we never left the keys in the box during our stay, just in case.
We entered the living room after all unpacking to be greeted by a strong smell of wet dog, which wasn?t nice, especially considering the cleaners had only just left around an hour before. So the air freshener came out, and did for the whole week. It seemed to be worse on one of the white sofas and the rug, so actually vacuumed round the whole room including sofas on the second day. We understand that this property allows pets, but it should also cater to people without pets and we would expect it to be cleaned fully and properly before the new guests arrive in case people are allergic - which in this case, 2 of our party were and didn?t sit on that sofa all week. In addition, we didn?t feel the cleaning had been done to a very high standard - we know it's an old farm house but it can still be cleaned properly. The kitchen had massive cobwebs on all the lights under the cupboards which I worried would fall into the food we were preparing; the en suite of the big bedroom at the rear smelt like drains for around 3 days, which wasn?t nice every time you walked into the bedroom. It could even be smelt one day throughout the whole upstairs as soon as you were on the landing.
In the brochure it advertises a down stairs wet room which was taken into account when we booked as we were a large group of 6 adults and 2 kids. Following a previous experience where we had to all share one shower, we thought this would be great having 4 separate showers. When we arrived, we were advised that the wet room shower was broken, and that we should have been advised already (we weren?t) and that it was really only a dog shower. We feel this needs to be updated within the advertising so customers fully understand the facilities on offer.
We would also like to add that having the big hot tub was a great selling point for this house, and one of the main reasons we booked it, but after a week's use and with new guests coming in, this should be drained and cleaned. We feel this hadn?t been done, and as the week went on, having used it every day, the water levels were getting lower and lower. When we have been to other property's, it was drained and new water put in ready for us and then checked mid-week and re filled. This wasn?t done and you could see the dirt on the water.
On the last day, our friends were using the en-suite shower in the twin room, and the shower didn?t drain at all and then flooded the shower room floor which came through to the room below; water was running down the walls, into the cupboard and down the chimney breast on to the log burner. We feel this en-suite was a bit of an after-thought and done to a poor standard which is probably why there's a plumbing issue. We did see marks on the wall when we arrived at the house but didn?t think anything of it as they were faint, but now we realise this must have happened before and that's what the marks were then too.
Also, I would like to add, that the bins in the kitchen need to be fixed. They should have chains on them so as they open forward they are held fast, however these have broken and one fell on my foot during the holiday. My toe and foot were very bruised and hurt to the extent that I was stuck inside for a whole day.
Finally, let me discuss the item which I left at the property - a bobble hat which has sentimental value (my dad gave this to me and he has since passed away and so this means a great deal to me). On the 5th January the owner emailed to advise a hat was left and asked for an address to send it back to - we gave my address to the owner and she advised she would post it the following day, which was the 6th January. I am yet to receive it. We contacted the owner on 10th January as I hadn?t received it, and she advised she had been away and will send it soon, but why lie? And twice? So today, 16th January, having still not received my hat, I contacted the owner again. She is now asking for money to send this back to me, which I thought was odd as after 3 weeks it hadn?t been mentioned before, so I asked her, and got a very rude and unprofessional response. This has really upset me that someone could be like this, over something that shouldn?t be a problem.

This holiday let offers a home from home experience. Ideally located to Visit Lincolnshire Wolds and the coast. Situated just outside Tealby a very pleasant village with a community shop and one of the oldest thatched pubs in Lincolnshire.
Excellent facilities with modern bathrooms, separate lounge with wood burner, patio to exclusive use of garden with hot tub. Central heating throughout. Separate dining room and country kitchen with all the usual facilities. Dog friendly and the owner provided a much needed welcome pack. Plenty of parking. Ideal for walking and cycling. Nearby farm shop and tea room. The town of Market Rasen only 5 minutes by car with a railway station.
