There is so much variety in Dorset that it is difficult to know
quite where to start! Children will love digging for fossils along the
Jurassic Coast near Charmouth. Walking along the cliffs courtesy of
the South West Coast National Trail is simply superb. In the East, Lulworth
Cove is very popular, as are the striking remains of Corfe Castle. Visit
Maiden Castle, near Dorchester, the largest Iron Age hill fort in the
UK, or visit the cottage where Thomas Hardy lived. For more on what
to see and do, see our Dorset Travel
Guide.
Please select your desired location from the map or the menu below, or
use the search form to the right. You may also wish to consult the listings
for nearby historic hotels in Devon
which borders on Dorset to the west, or Hampshire,
to the east. For alternative accommodation, see our Dorset
self catering guide.
