Authentic Africana artifacts and photos were shipped in from all over Southern Africa and stylish tartans weaves and leathers were introduced to reflect the comfort and style of a colonial hunting lodge. Oversized cushions handmade Windsor chairs and animal skins strewn on the floor all make for ambient surroundings. Guildford is situated in the centre of the county of Surrey within easy reach of Heathrow and Gatwick Airports and with excellent rail links to London (40 minutes) and the South Coast (50 minutes) and served by M25 M3 and A3 Guildford is the perfect spot from which to explore the whole of South East England.

We can now also boast 5 luxury en-suite letting rooms at The Percy Arms some with gorgeous slipper baths in the rooms! All rooms have internet access power showers and smart TVs and are upholstered in the beautiful wools and tartans previously adorning the pub still with a touch of Africa. Death of King Canute

Canute (Cnut), Danish king of England dies, precipitating a struggle for power between Harthacanute, his son by Emma, Harold Harefoot, his son by Aelfgifu, and Leofric of Mercia. Harold was the initial winner, but he died in 1040 and was followed by Harthacanute.

This English king was officially the heir of Charles VI of France
