Criccieth Castle photo, Criccieth Castle

Your first sight of Criccieth Castle as you drive along the coast road from Porthmadog is one that you will never forget - it is perhaps the most wonderfully situated castle in Wales. The castle dates to the 13th century, and may have been built by Llewelyn the Great. Over the years Llewelyn's descendants and the English conquerors who followed each added their bits and pieces to Criccieth.
