Minutes before I reached Striding Edge the fog came down like a dense blanket. I debated going back, but, hey, why come all that way only to give up? I walked the crest of the arete and was rewarded momentarily when the fog parted to reveal glimpses of Red Tarn down below. The ascent of Helvellyn is a spectacular walk, and I highly recommend it (in nicer weather if possible!)
