When the Oxford, Worcester, and Wolverhampton rail company extended their line to Charlbury in 1853 they hired famed Victorian engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel to design, not just the rail line itself, but the station houses. This Brunel did in his favoured 'chalet' style.
