The Story Behind the Image - Broughton Castle
Broughton Castle doesn't get the recognition it deserves. This beautiful moated medieval house near Banbury, Oxfordshire is one of the most picturesque in England.
I've visited on several occasions and once had the pleasure of briefly meeting Lady Saye and Sele, the owner.
The castle is located in extensive grounds, so I wouldn't normally get a chance to take a photo at sunset, but thankfully a public footpath runs through the grounds and passes directly beside the castle moat.
I drove from my home in the North Cotswolds about 45 minutes away just on the off-=chance the evening would be a nice one, and I certainly got lucky!
The footpath allowed me to set up my tripod to the west of the moat and capture the castle as the sun slowly sank. The water of the moat was so peaceful and the setting was simply idyllic.
