Detail from a medieval brass in the chancel of Middle Claydon church. The brass depicts the founder of Claydon House, Roger Gifford, and his wife Mary Nansicles. It was created in 1543, during Roger's lifetime, and the date of death is left blank. At Roger's feet is this delightfully clear depiction of a hound.
