Poor location and dirty
It may state that this is located on an A road but be aware that this is a particularly busy, noisy road. This was well below our usual standard of cottage with Sykes Cottages. Last year we stayed at Tregothan Cottages, but this house did not come anywhere close. It was unclean, tired, uncared for, with tatty garden, unsecured windows upstairs (children can climb out) , broken fire alarm, a freezer full of another person's food. On arrival we called Sykes Cottages to convey concerns. They offered to clean the house, however, the fact that this needed reporting is a concern and emanates a lack of business prowess, commitment and understanding about hospitality. No soft fluffy towels, biscuits and flowers on arrival with this one, we also had no change of linen or a mid stay clean in two weeks. We have another Sykes cottage booked in August and I have lost faith with the company. They cannot correct inadequate accommodation, other than offering to contact landlords for you and state very quickly that complaints and the contract are between you and the landlord, not them. So their hands are washed if any repercussion. The landlord replied stating we should have raised the issues earlier and what is wrong with the pictures of the outdoor chairs (take a look yourself) . Thank goodness this is not our only holiday this year but please be cautious if you are planning on booking a holiday here and I would not recommend that you take children. In hindsight, it is quite difficult to find a review about Barbara House which speaks volumes. Not the type of holiday for us but some may feel differently about it.

Barbara House is in a great location for exploring the West Wales coast and its stunning villages dotted around. The house itself was fantastic and plenty of room for all of the family and the dog, the facilities in the house were fabulous and there was a really lovely feel to the property.

It was close enough to walk to the sea. A lovely cottage with a good sunny garden, and lots of room to sit and get cosy.
Mrs Williams

This was a very thoughtfully and attractively furnished cottage, a real home from home. It had so much character and space too. The beds were very comfy. There was lots of space for the family to spread out and play, rest, read and even do a little bit of work in peace. Loved being able to see the sea and walk to the sea to collect driftwood. You are very close to lots of great things to do and pretty seaside towns like Aberaeron and New Quay.
