Superb
The cleanest and most well equipped holiday cottage we have ever stayed in. The owners, Kate & Nev, have thought of absolutely everything. The kitchen is incredibly well equipped, the beds are very comfortable, lounge lovely & cosy, and both bathrooms very nicely fitted out. All the little extras really make the place - an incredibly well written information folder, a welcome hamper full of goodies, all the extras in the kitchen we tend to forget (sandwich bags!) and even a disposable BBQ!
We enjoyed watching the DVD about Len, who lived on the farm for many years - a really nice touch to be able to learn about the history of the place.
It is gloriously peaceful in the barn, and the views are absolutely stunning. Despite being on a long track from the main road (about a 4 or 5 min drive without a 4x4), once you are up there it is within easy reach of so many different places. But when at the barn it feels like you are in the middle of nowhere - bliss!
Kate & Nev were so welcoming and being able to do the farm walk with Kate was a real treat which we definitely recommend future visitors do. Great to learn a bit about the farm, to meet some of the very friendly sheep and to enjoy more wonderful views!
We've stayed in holiday cottages at least once a year for the last 10 years and this really does top the lot, we will most certainly be returning as soon as we can.

A perfect place to relax
We had a superb weeks stay at Highfields Barn, our second visit to this well equipped and comfortable accommodation situated with fantastic views of the surrounding landscape . Kate and Nev are excellent hosts and even allowed us to spend a day with them helping out on the farm which we all enjoyed very much. Already booked for next year..

A real treat to stay here, highly recommend.
Beautiful location, very comfortable and very well equipped for a baby/toddler. The tour of the farm and meeting the friendliest sheep ever was great too.

Beautiful Barn in Deepest Staffordshire
Amazing location deep in the Staffordshire Moorlands. The surrounding landscape with 360 degree views are breathtaking. We only crossed the border from Derbyshire, but it felt like we were in a different country.
The barn is beautiful, well equipped, and comfortable. The kitchen is well fitted out for someone who loves to cook, and you become fond of the singing kettle on the stove. Very informative barn brochure/ pack provided by Kate. The barn has been sympathetically restored maintaining the history of the area yet contemporary too. We loved learning the history of the barn and adjacent farms especially, through the voice of local author Len Ward. Spend some time immersing yourself in this available book. You really get a sense of how people lived in such a remote area. It's difficult to comprehend in this day and age.
As artists, we had a wonderful day sketching and drawing around the property absorbing the landscape and nature. We also visited Leek and Tittesworth Reservoir although, both not fully open yet due to the end of Lockdown. We also made friends with Meg the dog, and a new one for us, a Redstart bird.
Be prepared for a careful, slow drive from the cattle grid onto the chattered track to the barn. Best suited for 4x4's but is doable by small cars too.
Warm welcome from Kate and Nev. Superb barn in a beautiful pocket of the countryside. Great for a countryside break.
