Devon Self Catering cottage, Monterey Mews, Torquay, sleeps 6

Fantastic place!
Had a week here with friends. We absolutely loved it. The house was exceptionally clean. It's also very well equipped and so peaceful. Fantastic location very close to shops, cafes, pubs etc and the sea. The owner was so helpful and friendly too. We will definitely be going back.

Very unclean
This was a very disappointing stay, the place had not been cleaned, the kitchen had stale milk Stains in the fridge and on the floor. Under the sink it looked like there was mouse droppings and had not been cleaned. We found animal excrements on the banister. The oven door did not shut properly nor did the fridge door. One side of the sofa was ripped and it was covered with a curtain tie back. The other side of the sofa looked like blood stains. Every window sill , light and mirror was covered with other people's dirt . The grill pan was dirty. It was advertised as dog friendly and there was nothing dog friendly about the place only one locked door to stop the dog going in the road . Very expensive for what you got. The bathrooms were clean

Compact but well equipped
Stayed at Monterey for a week with our son and another couple. Not really a ?mews cottage? more of a garage conversion with the main living area in the eaves of the building. This itself presented a few challenges for 2 of the party who are over 6ft tall, using the toilet in the very compact 'shower room? for example was technically difficult. Some of the furniture was tired and in need of replacement. That said, the accommodation was well equipped and in a good location for exploring the surrounding area. We felt we paid quite a lot for our stay but were disappointed with the overall standard of the accommodation.
