Chilham Castle

There are two castles at Chilham, side by side. This is the newer, really a fabulous Jacobean mansion, built in Italianate style by Sir Dudley Digges. The house looks out over terraced gardens (designed by gardening pioneer John Tradescant the Elder) leading down to a pretty lake.
