Castell-y-Bere photo, Castell-y-Bere

Perhaps the most beautifully situated native Welsh castle, Castell-y-Bere stands atop a wooded hill rising up from the floor of the Dysynni valley inland off Tywyn. It was erected by Llewelyn the Great in 1221, and captured by Edward I in 1283. The location is simply stunning.
