London Eye at Night

The Story Behind the Image - London Eye at Night

The London Eye is one of London's most popular - and most modern - visitor attractions. This view of the Eye was taken from across the River Thames as night was falling, with the full moon just breaking through a bank of clouds. I love the colourful lights reflected in the River Thames.

What I recall most about this photo is that while I was waiting for just the right moment to take the photo I met a runner who had just completed a marathon challenge, running hundreds of miles across Britain over the course of a week and ending up at Westminster in London.

He had a pair of running shoes over one shoulder and was trying to take a selfie with the London Eye in the background as a record of his accomplishment.

His contortions looked awkward so I offered to take the photo for him. Somewhere on a wall is a photo of this exact scene with a proud runner in the foreground!
