Lake District Self Catering cottage, Gavel Cottage, Bowness-on-Windermere, sleeps 4

Great Base
The cottage was well equipped and the open fire with coal and kindling supplied for the week made it really cozy. Lots of storage, comfortable bed and large bathroom. The weather wasn?t the best during our week so the free access to the spa at the Burnside Hotel was a big bonus. The neighbouring cottage was occupied but we didn?t hear a sound. I?d imagine this property would be lovely in the summer with its big garden. The only negative was the parking area. As the weather was wet the small track to/from the car was a bit mucky and the parking area was quite tight. Had the three spaces been occupied I would have found it tricky trying to park. An outside tap would have been useful to rinse our dirty walking boots.

Beautiful cottage in lovely surroundings
The cottage was very comfortable with lovely furnishings and accessories. Very warm, comfortable beds although it is only a double and the room could take a king size, which would be the only improvement we would suggest. Constant hot water, good wifi, lovely garden. Just a 20 mins stroll along the road, or via the banks of the lake or through the park to Bowness' piers. The pass to the hotel spa was a lovely addition, although just to note the towel hire has increased to ?2 not the £1 in their visitors' book - just so you take along sufficient change. Would definitely book it again.

Perfect ideal holiday home.
This was the most lovely cottage perfect location near windermere. All amenities and added extras like milk in the fridge, fresh flowers, made it seem so homely. Would highly recommend to anyone thinking of renting, just wish we could of stayed longer. Would definitely book again.

Delightful and cosy cottage with a lovely garden and garden facilities. Gavel Cottage was clean and very well equipped. The location was fantastic; with only a short walk to the Bowness Pier. We had an amazing week.

We've visited Gavel Cottage several times now. We love the location, layout, facilities in the cottage, fantastic garden and the added bonus of the gym/pool membership.
