Relaxing
Came here two weeks after hectic Christmas. Perfect place to chill out, two adults two westies..loved the quiet, loved the log fire. The whole cottage was beautiful, felt at home straight away. A lovely welcome awaited us on arrival from the owners, were there if we needed them, but otherwise we were left to enjoy the break. Not to far to get provisions or pop to pub. Although needed car, so one always had to not drink! But no great deal. Can?t wait to come back in summer

Mostly good
This cottage offers a lot. It sleeps four and has two bathrooms. It is clean and comfortable with plenty of room. If you have pets (dogs are welcome) or children (Also welcomed I assume) then it offers an enclosed back garden of lawn for them to excercise and enjoy. It is equipped with almost everything you would want including a dishwasher and a washing machine. It is single storey with parking outside the front door so easily accessible (although a couple of steps up to the door itself). An excellent location for touring the area. Many good pubs in the area and Brampton is easy to get to for Coop and Spar supermarkets. Friendly and very helpful owners. All in all there are many positives about this place but also a few niggles. The garden is a nice place to sit out in on a sunny day and furniture is provided for that and also lovely picture windows in the lounge but, unfortunately, considering the lovely countryside around, the view is almost totally obscured by the modern barn. Yes, I know it is a farm but it is a pity the view is so restricted. Also the large picture windows in the lounge allow the room to get very hot indeed on a sunny day but the only way to get any air in is to open the door to the patio which can cause problems on a breezy day we found. Also, on our visit, the lock to this door had also jammed and made it very difficult to open and relock. This was fixed on our last day. Towel rails in the bathrooms were supposed to be controlled by clever electronic timers/thermostats but neither worked properly during our vist. One was on all the time (very hot - care needed with children) and the other did not work at all, even after the owner tried to fix it, so that bathroom was quite cool first thing in the morning. Bathroom mirror lighting (needed as ordinary lighting made it difficult to shave/make up properly) didn't work in either bathroom. One was fixed by owner later in week. Another irritation was the free WiFi. We did not book through Sykes but another agency. However it seems that Sykes provide the free WiFi (6 MB and keeps dropping out) and, as a condition of signing on, want to know your name, sex, date of birth, email address, mobile phone number, etc. Personally I resent having to provide such detailed information for such a service especially when I did not even use their company to book. I stress that the owners were always very nice and helpful and did their best to help fix the problems and I cannot really fault them (although I do wonder why so many things needed fixing, especially at the beginning of the season). Overall actually a good place to stay but, with a little more effort, it could be great.

Perfect location perfect accommodation
Would highly recommend swift cottage lovely owners mavel and John. location great very quite and peaceful. We visited glenridding, ullswater, aria force water falls which where stunning tynedale railway, Hadrians wall, lanercost priory the list is never ending as there is so much to see and do. Our one gripe is the cost of car parking when out and about is very expensive e.g.:aria Force cost £5 for 2 hours. But I must admit was worth it for all the beautiful sights we have visited. We used the hot tub which was always a nice relaxing experience after been out all day walking. Would highly recommend staying here would of loved to have stayed again at new year but because of the popularity it is fully booked already Thanks again Mavel &John your cottages are fab .

Excellent accommodation
Stayed here for a week with our young family. The super friendly owners met you on site to show you around Cottage and tell you about local attractions etc. The house itself was lovely and the sun room stunning. Our kids loved being able to play out the back in the enclosed garden. We opened the sun room door and let them play away, whilst we could see them at all times through the sun room. In a rural location perfect for exploring Cumbria and the northern Lakes. Milton Mains holiday cottage are only a couple of miles away from Talkin Tarn Country Park. We visited the park 3 times during our stay. You can walk around the Lake, feed the ducks and the kids take advantage of the new sand play area there. It was a lovely wee quiet spot. Hadrians Wall right on your doorstop. You are only a couple of miles away from the Aviation Museum which my husband really enjoyed. Walby Farm Park only about 10 mins away and it was a great day out if you have young children. Carlisle town is about 20 minutes away. About 45 minutes took you into Keswick, beautiful little place, really something about it and amazing sand park there also and the Lakes, well what can I say. Amazing!!! Went this direction 2 days and it was lovely to return to base to the lovely comfortable Swift Cottage after a day out. We lit the BBQ provided one sunny evening and enjoyed the new wicker outdoor furniture provided too. We were blessed with fantastic shorts and t shorts weather all week. It rained one morning and one night but bar that, we were really fortunate to have a dry sunny week (2 days scorchers)! Many thanks Mable and John for the use of your lovely Cottage.

We have just come back from a brilliant one weeks stay at Swift Cottage, cannot fault it at all. It was very spacious and clean, sometimes the images on line show accommodation in a better light, however, this was even better than we expected. The enclosed garden was fantastic for our two dogs to run around in when we weren't out walking with them in the field on the farm. The kitchen was really well equipped and with plenty of everything, the dishwasher was a real bonus! The hot tub was a great place for all of us to chill out, whatever the weather, a brilliant extra. The location was great too, very peaceful, but not far from Hadrian's wall, lots of lovely villages, and only 10 miles from Carlisle too! Last, but not least, the owners were very helpful and always on hand if we needed them. Would recommend to anyone who wants a great place for a relaxing break, and we look forward to going back ourselves.
