What a beautiful cottage!
Gorgeous, cosy cottage, and a lovely break before Christmas! Stunning interior, very well equipped kitchen and the perfect place for a Scottish retreat. The cottage is brilliantly located, and the owners were so helpful in recommending places to visit. We really enjoyed the walk to Maspie Den and visiting the Pillars of Hercules. Can?t wait to return!

Ideal Cottage!
Dunira is just the ideal cottage- well equipped, cosy, stylish and in a great location where country walks, lovely pubs, interesting shops as well as Falkland Palace are just on the doorstep. The beautiful Fife coast is also within easy reach. What more could anyone want? The friendly and helpful owners have thought of everything to make your stay as enjoyable as possible.

Disappointed with cottage
We have just returned from a week's stay in Dunira in the pretty village of Falkland. We were quite impressed by the cottage on first sight . Unfortunately that didn't last long due to: No doors to and in living toom and kitchen except for back door. Draught and cold came in . We made two makeshift doors as it was so draughty , see pics. We were told we couldnt increase the heating for the radiators, so suffered for 3 days trying to keep warm until we complained to the owner and Sykes Cottages & we were then able to increase the heating pressure in the boiler. We had a wood burner fire which eventually warmed up the living room . The stairs are very steep: not suitable for people with mobility issues. This isn't mentioned on Sykes Web site, nor is noise from The back of the Covenanters pub when they empty their bottles in the bins next to the cottage & when they get a beer barrel delivery which goes round the side and back of the cottage to the back entrance of the pub. Not much fun at 7:30 am ! It isn't a dog friendly cottage please be aware of this- the front door leads immediately onto the road ,not safe for a boisterous dog. The living area is too small for a large dog to move around in one small area and a kitchen. Plus points though the bath is very deep, shower pressure is good. The bed is very comfortable . Kitchen reasonable size & provides most equipment. Falkland is lovely and worth a visit but not to this cottage.

Extremely relaxed holiday in a lovely town
Dunira is a lovely property set in a convenient location in the historic town of Falkland (Many country walks, pubs, the palace and one hour away from Edinburgh via car or train). The property itself has everything you need for a comfortable stay and is more spacious than the pictures show! The main highlight is the bath which is great for a long soak after a long walk. We loved discovering all the local fishing villages and had a fantastic day out in St Andrews. We will definitely be staying again.

Fantastic Home from Home
Arriving on Halloween in Falkland after a 5 hour drive, our beautiful cosy cottage welcomed us, with comfortable furnishings and an inviting log fire. We lit it nearly every night, even though the cottage was warm, because it was just so cosy! We'd highly recommend a walk to Maspie Den, especially if you've taken your dog like we did! Ending the walk with a meal in The Stag which was delicious, and then a long soak in the beautiful copper bath is just the perfect way to end the day. The cottage had everything we needed, and a great safe garden for the pooch. The bed was so comfortable and it was lovely hearing the church bells in the morning and seeing the spire from the window. Would also point out that it was amazing value at around £300 for the week! We would 100% stay here again and my parents are planning to come next year!
