Excellent base for the lakes
If your hesitating regarding this cottage, don't, just book it, you won't regret it. It's great to see an owner that understands the type people who rent this property are not the type to pinch dishwasher tablets, all is provided in this occomodation, the owner has thought of everything. Thank you for sharing your lovely cottage.

Ideal for comfort and location.
Beautiful house, modern, spacious and well-equipped. It is positioned perfectly at the end of a short road with a stream (gill) running along the side and stunning views of Blencathra to the rear and side and Clough's Head across the valley. Walks can be straight from the door with access to the path by the stream either into the village or up Blencathra. The village is nice with 2 friendly pubs and a surprisingly good coffee shop. However, be aware that there is no shop in the village so come prepared or its down to Keswick for provisions.
Obviously word is getting around about this property. When we booked at the end of last year availability was not a problem. However, we considered returning later this year and found it was booked solid until Oct! Not surprised really, we have stayed in several cottages in and around the Lakes and Northumbria and this is undoubtedly the best.
Other than the lack of a local shop and, to some perhaps, the noisy rooks (I think) nesting in the trees alongside the house there are no downsides. We would certainly recommend it and expect to stay again in the future.

Lovely lovely cottage, clean, warm, welcoming, modern
This is a great cottage, well thought out and very comfortable. The views are fantastic. It's easy to waste a morning just sitting in the living room with a cup of tea and looking out at Clough Head. Floors downstairs are generally wood or stone tile (limestone?), which makes them very dog and outdoor shoe friendly. There's underfloor heating which means everything dries really quickly. The kitchen is well equipped and there is even a decent dishwasher. Upstairs in the bedrooms the carpets are new and are probably expensive. You sink gently into them. The zip and link bed in the main bedroom seems enormous. The sheets and bed linen are good quality. Internet connection is a standard BT hub, I think, and works well. Bit difficult to think of any downsides. An en suite would have been nice but the layout doesn't really mean you can do this easily. The pros of everything else outweigh that one disadvantage. There are leather sofas in the living room which I am not keen on, but that is just a personal thing.
