Pipe Aston, St Giles Church (c) Ian Capper
Pipe Aston, St Giles Church

A small jewel of a church, St Giles was founded in the Norman period and partly rebuilt in the 13th century. It consists of a small nave, chancel, and large south porch. There is no tower; just a small bellcote.

Within the nave is a large series of Norman wall paintings. Look up and you will see the timber-framed roof, which dates to the late 14th century.

Perhaps the most interesting feature of the church is the beautifully carved north doorway, which features an intricate tympanum.
