Family run Clerk Laithe Lodge in the Forest of Bowland a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty was newly opened in Spring 2014 offering superior bed and breakfast accommodation in spacious en-suite rooms. Guests will enjoy excellent home cooked food for Breakfast Lunch or Evening Meals. A warm welcome is assured.
Matthew and Helena welcome you to Clerk Laithe Lodge. Your hosts have lived locally for many years and both have much experience in catering and hospitality and together look to provide a complete service to visitors to the Forest of Bowland; which is a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). Clerk Laithe is situated just outside the village of Newton in Bowland village some 7 miles from the Market Town of Clitheroe in the Ribble Valley.
The farmland adjacent to Clerk Laithe has been in the family since 1955 and is still a sheep farm. Laithe is an Old Norse or Viking word for Barn. The barn like many in the area was converted to a family home in the year 2000.
Clerk Laithe Lodge was added in 2013 and was built to strict environmental standards. It provides 5 Superior En Suite Bedrooms and a varied Continental Style Breakfast or a Full English Breakfast is included in the tariff. An Evening Meal is optional.
Abundant wildlife is always in sight with many bird species and wild deer in the close woodlands. The River Hodder is nearby and there are footpaths for walking in the Hodder Valley and on the Bowland Fells. Cycle routes pass the Lodge. Because of the location of the Lodge there is very little light pollution.
This makes it ideal for Star Gazing and facilities for that are available on request. A few miles away there is Fishing at Stocks Reservoir and permits can be arranged. Welcome to Clerk Laithe Lodge!
