Hodnet Hall, Shropshire
Hodnet Hall

The estate of Hodnet dates back to the time of the Domesday Book, and there have been gardens in one form or another at Hodnet since the 11th century. The gardens we see today are almost entirely a product of the 20th century, and the 60 acres of landscaped grounds, formal and informal gardens together make up one of the finest landscape gardens in England.

The gardens are arranged with winding paths following a daisy-chain of ponds and small lakes, through a wooded landscape of fascinating variety throughout the entire year.

There are cascades, intimate garden rooms, and colourful borders. The gardens have been carefully planted to provide interest throughout the year, and to create an exciting environment no matter whether you have a green thumb or not!

The gardens are open on regular days throughout the Spring, Summer, and Autumn, including days specific under the National Garden Scheme. There has been a concerted effort to make garden trails accessible, though the weather conditions do play a part in how easily wheelchairs will function on wet or muddy paths!
