Ludgershall Castle photo, Ludgershall Castle

This former royal castle dates to the 11th century. It was built by Edward of Salisbury, the Sheriff of Wiltshire, It was later used by Queen Maud, and subsequent improvements were made by King John and Henry III. It later became part of the royal dowry given to the queens of England.
