Self Catering in Gwynedd - Ganllwyd
Sleeps a maximum of: 12
Pricing From: £759
This large detached Victorian house in Ganllwyd sits within the Coed-y-Brenin Forest Park, and can sleep up to twelve people in five bedrooms.
Bryn Cemlyn is a large Victorian house overlooking the River Mawddach, and the forest land beyond. There are five bedrooms in this spacious property - on the second floor is a room with double bed, single bed and en-suite shower, and also a twin room, while on the first floor is a double, another double with an en-suite shower, and a room with a king-size double, a single bed and 'Jack-and-Jill' access to one of the 'family' bathrooms with corner bath and shower cubicle. There is also a second main bathroom, and two additional WCs, one on the ground floor.
Downstairs is a fitted kitchen with a Newood cooking range, a dining room and a spacious living room. In the basement is a utility room, and a games room with pool table, table tennis and darts. Outside, there is off road parking, bike storage and a sitting area with furniture and BBQ.
With the mountain bike and walking trails of the forest on the doorstep, and the rest of Snowdonia and the coast within easy reach, Bryn Cemlyn makes a wonderful base for large groups.
RECENT CUSTOMER REVIEWS
The house was fine but there were mice!
We stayed at Bryn Cemlyn recently. We had a lovely week, the location is fantastic, stunning views, a short drive to Dolgellau with shops and pubs and lots of activities within a 30min drive including some great beaches and walks. The house itself was really spacious, nice big lounge and the kitchen was well equipped. The games room was great and there is free wi fi. The house is on a busy road and you can hear traffic from quite early in the morning but this is stated in the description. A couple of the beds would certainly benefit from new mattresses and few little issues could do with being addressed such as missing blinds and lack of TV remote. We had a toddler and a dog with us and I wouldn?t describe the outside areas as either dog or child friendly. The patio area has access onto the main road so the only place to let the dog out was down a set of gated steep steps onto a gravelled area which then has access down to the river via some further steep, slippery steps which aren?t gated off. The view of the river is lovely though and had we not had the toddler it would have been much less of a concern. The description states pub within 1 mile but the aforementioned pub is closed and has been for some time by the looks of it so the nearest amenities are a 10min drive away in Dolgellau.
We also had some additional ?visitors? during our stay in the form of mice. There were at least two that we managed to catch but there were old droppings in the kitchen and bedroom cupboards (as well as some of the previous guests? belongings) as well as fresh deposits left in one of our bags and on clothing which wasn?t a particularly pleasant find. Despite the above we had a great time but we probably wouldn?t return.

The setting of Bryn Cemlyn was fantastic, the house was absolutely perfect for a large group, and it was great having the outside space with the river at the back of the property.
