Unique
Great venue for a group get-together when your group needs lots of bathrooms and 3 separate kitchens and dining areas. Great for kids playing hide and seek. Historic features, old watermill, low beams, resident bats. Now for the negatives. Needs some general maintenance work. 2 rooms on the ground floor had nasty smells ?from drains or vermin. Lower ground bathroom has no lock on the door and the bedrooms appear to have no heating. Grill in oven in ground floor keeps cutting out every few minutes, therefore unusable. Showers are great, but temperature of water suddenly changes, possibly due to other people using other showers or flushing toilets.

Team building in Derbyshire
I visited The Malthouse with work, we had a team build and needed somewhere big enough for the 10 of us, and this actually worked out cheaper than all of us stopping in separate hotels.
We arrived and were delighted to find the property was every bit as good as the pictures on the internet. Tastefully decorated and almost everything you could need. My room was a nice size, had a double bed and an ensuite bathroom with rainforest shower.
As you explore the building you find; 3 well equipped kitchens, 9 bedrooms (not all are ensuite so make sure you explore and get first dibs) and 2 lounges. It's quite clear that the owners have spent considerable amounts of money on the renovations.
We were told we could get 4 cars outside the front, I can confirm that we managed, with some giggling around to get 7 cars onto the driveway. It was tight but entirely possible.
It was set in beautiful surroundings. Near to Matlock and the peak district. We used this as a base to trip to the Monsal Trail, where we hired bikes and rode along the disused railway line taking in some amazing views.
The only real downside I could see was the rumble of quarry trucks from dawn to dusk on the street outside.
Seriously great place to stay!

What A Place.
Tired of stopping in your everyday hotel or B&B? Then may u suggest a mill.
Yes, I said a mill.
This one has obviously been transformed from an old mill to a glorious house.
3 levels of character and vintage charm coupled with modern technology.
The place is presented beautifully. The rooms made up in an inviting manner, the inner workings of the old mill on show through the window in the downstairs kitchen and a delightful welcome basket (with chocolate and wine) really do make this place.
Location wise, Matlock and Matlock Bath are literally a 5/10 mins drive round the corner and provide a variety of shops and entertainment when you feel the need to venture out. If you fancy a little walk instead then 2 mins walk down the road to Cromford you'll find a small variety of shops for food and drink. Take time out one night to have a drink or two in one of the pubs, it's well worth it.
We've visited The Malthouse once and we're already talking of returning.
Fantastic place.

Stunning property .
This property is amazing and beautifully restored . The bedrooms are lovely and clean . We had to move pans and plates from one kitchen to another to cook but not really a problem . Would definitely recommend . There were only 10 of us so we could comfortably all fit in the large lounge upstairs , but I suspect this would be a challenge with larger numbers of people . The only negative was the dreadful smell in the lower ground floor bedroom / bathroom next door (, nearest the kitchen ) which we think was the sewers/ drains .
