Comfortable cittage
We found the cottage to be clean and comfortable, new lounge furniture and comfortable double mattress, soft fluffy towels. The heating was off when we arrived at 3pm and the cottage stone cold so we went to the supermarket, and returned to find everything thankfully warming up. The heating switched off at 0800 the next day - it was snowing - so we phoned the owner since the timer switch wasn?t located anywhere obvious or alluded to in the instructions. She was very friendly and concerned, put the cleaner in touch with us to help with the heating and suggested we have the heating on 24/7 for the duration of our short break. The shower had jets as well as a shower head, which was fun - but the water cooled fairly quickly. Filling the bath sufficiently to cover the jets in the bath tub took three attempts because you had to give the system ten minutes every now and again to reheat. At £85/night mid March, which presumably is off peak, we thought Camphill was expensive, but we did like the cottage and the area.

Loved it!
We booked this last November but had to move due to broken boiler so we tried again. So glad we did. Lovely, cosy cottage, so quiet and peaceful. (The occasional car or tractor may go past). Has everything you need - fridge, freezer, even a dishwasher. Bedding and towels supplied. The garden is enclosed so safe for the dogs. Kirkcudbright and Castle Douglas near by for shopping. Great walks at Barhill Woods, Laurieston and Loch Ken for the red kite. Love this part of Scotland and will be back. P.s no sign of the ?wee beasties?

Dissapointed
This could be a lovely holiday cottage but unfortunately the cleanliness of the cottage is very poor, the kitchen isn't fit for purpose, freezer has mould around inside of door with dirt and hairs inside, the cooker had cobwebs between both glass doors, the toaster was hidden away in unit, very dirty so didn't even try it. Dining table chairs didn't match and one just about fell apart, we didn't dare let children use it. Cobwebs all over table lamps in living room and cobwebs all over units, this is standard cleaning which should be done regularly before guests arrive. Ceiling lights rusty. As I said this could be a really nice place to stay because location is perfect but unfortunately the standard lets it down, needs a bit of a refurbishment urgently especially kitchen, would not recommend staying here until it's sorted
