Great location, accommodation not as advertised
Hakuna Matata is advertised as a ?lovely home .... ideal for ..families looking to stay somewhere stylish and comfortable with a warm sense of welcome. Sykes cottages descriptions are normally accurate and fair, neither could be said for the description of this cottage. You cannot fault its location, 5 minutes walk from the beautiful Camber Sands but it is not comfortable for a family of four. It is absolutely tiny. It's interesting and revealing that the only obvious welcome information from the hosts is a laminated sheet stating ?If you depart early please text.... After sleeping in the beds provided I am not surprised that many guests do. They are awful and profoundly uncomfortable. They are small and the mattresses cheap. The double bed mattress compresses to under an inch in depth when sat on, it is so thin and I am not overweight! It is also a standard double and NOT a King size as advertised on the website. I woke up with back pain that I had NEVER previously had. The double room has such thin curtains that either the streetlights or the sun bathed the room in light. The twin mattresses are narrower than standard singles. This is all misrepresented on the website. Yes it's cutely decorated but to say it has ?Open plan living area with kitchen, dining area and sitting area? is thoroughly misleading. There is a dining table - a folding unit with incorporated chairs that when extended means that the sofas have to pushed together to allow anyone to actually sit down and no one can get up to go upstairs or use the downstairs loo without more rearranging of furniture and we are slim! We used it once and never again as we were all so uncomfortable. There is no Wifi and one jigsaw does not constitute ? a selection of books and games?. ?The fully enclosed courtyard garden makes for the perfect spot to chill out with a good book and long, cool drink while the others in your party prepare for the evening, maybe a barbecue? This is in reality a tiny miserable space with decking and gravel enclosed on four sides like a prison yard overlooked by all other properties. Finally the bath drainage is blocked and even one of the reviews captioned on the Sykes site stated this was an issue 6 months ago. It is clean and well presented but not as advertised. Profoundly disappointed.
