The Story Behind the Image - Old Man of Storr
The Old Man of Storr is a famous rock needle on the east coast of the Isle of Skye, Scotland, not far from Portree.
The Old Man is a frequent target for mountain climbers, who abseil up the sheer sides of the needle.
I took this view from Loch Leathan, a beautiful loch at the foot of The Storr, the ridge that terminates in the Old Man.
I stopped by the loch to photograph the amazing view north along the loch itself, but my eye was drawn up to the ridge and the Old Man, lit by the morning sun. Wow!
