Lovely little gem A lovely little find to enjoy all that Weardale and surrounding areas have to offer. Cosy, comfortable and a warm, personal welcome started off the week break perfectly. Thank you David C 2017-11-05
Cosy cottage in lovely, peaceful surroundings No need to repeat what others have already said about this excellent cottage in Weardale. Everything is as described on the webpage and the owner couldn't be more helpful. She really goes the extra mile to make her guests feel welcome and we can only think of positive things to say about it. We will certainly recommend it to anyone thinking of visiting the area. It's also useful to know, for larger groups, that the cottage can be rented along with the large house next door. PatriciaCanterbury 2017-09-23
Perfect little cottage If you need some peace and quiet with wonderful scenery, then book this lovely little cottage.
Nicola the owner couldn't have been more friendly and welcoming. There was a welcome hamper and bread and milk provided. After a very long journey seeing the light on in the window and upon entering seeing fresh flowers and a spotlessly clean warm and homely cottage it made it all worth while.
We met Nicola the next morning and she is very helpful if you haven't been to the area before. She is a lovely person and will I'm sure succeed with The old Miners cottage next door.
The cottage is very well equipped with lots of wild life just outside the door.
A perfect cottage for a couple wanting a relaxful holiday.
Even though there was no wifi I didn't miss it really but my husband did.Though I understand Nicola is going to get it soon.
Would definitely recommend. lovegrovehelen 2017-05-13
Switch off and relax at this lovely, cosy cottage We were very late in making plans for Easter, and were very lucky to stumble across this cottage. We wanted to get away from London to somewhere relaxing with lots of fresh air. This cottage was just the ticket!
The cottage was well equipped and really nicely decorated, with very comfy beds and great lounges- perfect for afternoons spent reading!
Nicola was very welcoming and, knowing we were arriving late at night, she kindly left us bread, butter and milk for the morning. The welcome hamper is also a lovely touch.
There is no wifi or telephone reception so it really is an escape from the world, but the pub up the road has wifi so there's nothing to fear!
Stanhope (6 mile drive) has a very nice fruit and vegetable store, sweet shop and a great butcher as well as a co-op and bakery, so everything you need is just a srone's throw away.
On Nicola's recommendation we had dinner at the Lord Crewe Arms one evening which we would highly recommend. We didn't have a chance to have a drink in the bar there but it looked fantastic. lizziegfinn 2017-04-17
