Semi relaxing weekend break
Booked Cedar Lodge as a little get away break for my partners birthday and our anniversary. The lodge seemed pretty clean on arrival and lots of room for storage. We were short of a HDMI lead for the DVD player but was soon brought one by housekeeping. The duvet provided was a crunchy plastic cover which personally wasn't very nice - we even contemplated going out to buy a new one! My partner ended up with a really bad back over the entire weekend which seemed to be caused by the bed. Spent most of the weekend in the hot tub as he was in too much discomfort to go anywhere.

Terrible!!! Where to start... When first entering the lodge we were greeted with a strange smell which poured out of the spare room when opening the door, the room itself
looked as though the cleaner had been disturbed while cleaning...one bed made up and the other not dressed. Only to discover that the bed which had no covers had clearly been stripped as the duvet was wet with wee this had soaked through onto the bottom sheet and mattress - the smell was vile, even worse when the heating had been on. Most prominent in the bedroom but drifted through the whole lodge.Disgusting.Contacted owner, who sent the on site 'cleaner' out who said she couldn't smell the wee and took encouragement to take the bottom sheet (and the duvet which we had had to bag up and put outside due to the terrible smell).
We soon after had issues with the toilet and shower which were both blocked, unable to flush or clear water.... and to top it off on our first night because the people who were in the lodge prior to us had turned the hot tub water green we were unable to use our hot tub on the first night.
Literally an expensive break from hell. The place itself even without its problems needs some money spending on it for it to even come close to the standard of the money they are charging.
This has been by far the worst lodge we have stayed in, I would not return nor recommend. This has genuinely put me off booking through sykes,as we had genuine problems and there was little they could do to help us. The lady from Skyes agreed that our experience had been disappointing but said that the owner refused to discuss any form of compensation which I thought was poor as we are not a couple who complain lightly.
Not even an apology...so unfortunately for us our holidays was ruined but I am hopeful to save someone else's! (We left a day early) gross!!
We arrived at the lodge just before it went dark and was really pleased with how close to the amenities it was. Lovely private parking space and lodge was in a really quite corner of the park. Kitchen, living room and bathroom nice and clean main bedroom looked clean but there were hairs in the double bed and the quilt was so thin I had to borrow one of a friend that was staying in a different lodge and luckily had a spare. The single beds were really small and one had damp and mould near the top but under the mattress. At 4pm on the day we arrived we were told via email the hot tub lights weren?t working which was fine but as it's in a corner it's really dark so hard to use at night. The main bathroom light doesn?t work nor does the hall light which I emailed about but never received a reply. This lodge could be lovely but needs a bit of time and money spending on it. I paid a good price for the week but looked at next years price and it's double and I would defo not pay that for this lodge.
Awful beds & poor customer service from Sykes - disappointed
The beds in this property made for an awful night's sleep for the four adults staying. The spring wires were pushing up through the mattress surface in all the beds. So uncomfortable that we chose to leave after 1 night rather than staying the three. Not to mention mould beneath mattresses and dripping of condensation onto one of our heads during the night!
Despite raising this with both the owner & Sykes Cottages neither have offered any form of compensation and have tried to suggest that our issues were down to ?personal preference?. Very unhappy customers & really disappointed - we do a hot tub trip every December and based on our experience following our stay, 2017 will be the first & last time we use Sykes Cottages given the resolution offered when we notified them that we?d had to leave early.
Would also note that the property is extremely small, looks larger in the pictures but there is very little room in bedrooms around the bed & the communal area is small. Would suggest it is more well suited size for two adults and two small children at a maximum. The quality of the furnishings within the lodge (except bedrooms!) were nice & modern & clean. The hot tub was good.
Tattershall Lakes Country Park seems like a really nice holiday park, just a shame we weren?t able to experience much of it during our unexpectedly short stay.
We stayed in the Cedar lodge in 2nd week in July 2017 we had an absolutely great time lodge was clean plenty to do around about. Hot tub was excellent (even better it was hot weather so couldn't use it until evening). Complimentry tea coffee and sugar was provided. Nice clean towels. We had our boxer dog Monty with us and he had the best time. He was able to watch everyone from the decking without getting out. Thanks for a great holiday.
