Lake District Self Catering cottage, 1 Field Foot Cottage, Grasmere, sleeps 6

Beautiful cottage in the heart of the village
We had a fantastic family holiday at 1 Field Foot - note that it sleeps 6, with 1 double room, 1 single room, and a converted attic with 1 double and 1 single bed - effectively a family suite on the top floor (including shower room). The situation was perfect as in the centre of the village but set back from the main street, so very peaceful. The kitchen/diner has been recently refitted to a very high standard, the beds are comfortable and the while house is very homely, with many original features and tasteful decor and fittings. There is a parking space for one car - our family group had two, but this was not a problem as there was plenty of local parking (for a small charge) available at this time of year - may not be true in the summer. The only drawback for us was the steep staircase to the top floor, and no stair gate so we could not use that area for our small grandson - we would say this would also not be suitable for an elderly or infirm person. The owner and the neighbours are very friendly and helpful and we felt this was a good-value break in a sought-after village in the Lakes.
